I have a question about the pattern download- how do you use the pages at the end of the pdf? With the shapes touching it doesn't seem like the shapes are big enough to baste. Help!
I am new to this but after reading think I will probably do a combo of these two. I will make all my centers first so I like the mix and then work on one block or a few at a time. I don't think I have it in me to do all the measuring, cutting, basting before I get to sew.
This gave me something to think about. I usually like to see finished blocks as I go but tend to reach for the same prints/colours over and over again. So I will make this one in rounds to help me achieve a nice balance of colours. My kit arrived yesterday so I can now make a start.
That was a great read Jody and I think those 3 questions apply to any scrappy quilt.
I’m not an EPPer but I do like delving into scraps. I’m a block at a time person.
I can manage a block in a short period of time. As my blocks go together I can see what I’ve used and what I might need more or less of in the colour department.
For cherish, I picked out my fabric in two sessions. One to get started. And a second to make sure I had an even mix of prints - I had to buy more Tula! I wouldn’t be able to stand not know how the scrappiness would work out as I pieced the second to last block. I am busy with my family and have health issues so blocked decision making and cutting is the only way I can manage that stage. But now I can do my basting and stitching as I go! I’ve got all the blocks all sorted!
I’m in the chronic illness club myself and having a few blocks with me when I’m frequenting medical establishments is a great way to make something pretty to use up the time
I have started by making the whole blocks one at a time but I realized that I already don’t like how some of them go together so I think I will try doing the rest the round way🙂
While I love wild and busy, the analytical chemist part of me will always be present and I need to impose a touch of order. Creating by round gives me this balance. Mainly so I have a reasonably even distribution of colour.
