Welcome!

Thanks so much for taking the time to browse this little corner of mine on Substack! I'm Jodi, the messy, creative heart behind Tales of Cloth! I work from home in my studio in Orange, Australia, usually with a red pup keeping my toes warm, a coffee beside me, and a crime novel in my headphones.

I love, love, love English Paper Piecing quilts! I love that I can do it anywhere, I love working with my hands, I love that it stops them scrolling, and that the quiet or waiting moments are now spent making something beautiful and useful and warm.

I also love the way creative endeavours teach us so many precious things about ourselves and about life. Through quilting, I have learned to value my own personal pursuit of joy, learned to tune in to my body when it’s telling me something’s not working, learned to slow down and be present and trust that all those tiny, steady stitches will one day culminate in a beautiful finished quilt. I use my weekly newsletters here to process and celebrate these lessons. I’d love you to join me!

I’m so glad you’re here!

This world can be kind of scary, kind of uncertain, at times terribly painful. My goal here isn’t just to be a colourful distraction, but to engage with life wholeheartedly, eyes open to the wonderful, the quiet, the generous, and the joyful, while I make a myriad of beautiful, hand-stitched quilts.
