Good for you for learning how to enjoy the process. My husband has never learned this lesson and gets so frustrated when the process bogs down. It's such a joy to be able to just go with it.

Loved this post! I’m sitting here smiling ruefully as I look at the piece of drywall board still propped up in the corner of our dining room from a still unfinished “quick” project. And there are random tools - everywhere. My partner, bless him, will finish it eventually, although probably not before starting yet another project somewhere in the house. I can’t complain because I’m a multi-project person myself. Knitting, quilting, spinning, and sewing projects seem different somehow. But they, too, tend to get spread around the house. And it’s all ok in the long run. I’m 69 years old now and have finally learned that life is precious and sometimes too fleeting to waste time stressing about a lot of the stuff I used to. I’ve also realized it’s past time to unearth the basket with my languishing Ice Cream Soda quilt papers and fabrics and bring it into the living room. What a perfect project to get back to as we head into our summer here. Thank you for the lovely post and the lovely pattern.

Went through what you are doing with remodeling several years and after 2 years with a table saw in the kitchen, I put a tablecloth and vase of flowers on it , guess that's what got it out to the shop as that night it left the house. But remodeling is well worth it and you will enjoy it for a long time to come. Quilting in between helps a lot to. Got my papers and pattern so now to make the quilt

I had to laugh when you said "What was with all the yellow cream in the early 2000's". I'm old enough to know that in 2050 people will be saying "What was with all the black window frames in 2026?" Everything becomes new again.

Reno is tough but you'll love it when it's done.

Haha, I thought the same thing while writing it! 😂 Before I knew we could afford to change them, I figured if I just waited long enough, I would think they were beautifully vintage one day!

I think we are always in the middle.. between yesterday and tomorrow - we are right where we need to be. Congratulations on the big beautiful windows and new start for the home. Hoping the painting is fun (I have thoughts about it, but would rather quilt and stitch). 🫶

I NEEDED this story of yours today!!! I have a big house/property”job” that needs to be done in a bit over a week. THANK YOU for reminding this quilter to break things into ‘chewable’ chunks… to see the project achieve success! I love your posts.

Wonderful perspective, thank you for sharing the journey and wisdom that comes with allowing yourself to be in that moment, acceptance that it is all part of the process ❤️

Thank you. Needed this perspective exactly NOW.
